What is Tumor Vaginal?

A vaginal Tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the vagina, a female reproductive organ. Other than that, most of the cancerous vaginal tumor occurs when another cancer, such as cervical and endometrial cancer, spreads. Most of the vaginal tumor start in skin cells called squamous cells. There are 3 parts in the vaginal also can get the vaginal tumors such as adenocarcinoma, melanoma and sarcoma. Usually the women who get the tumor at squamous are over 50.

What is Symptom of Vaginal Tumor?

Early vaginal tumor may not cause any signs and symptom. As it progresses, vaginal tumor may cause signs and symptoms such as:

  • A lump or mass in vagina
  • Constipation
  • Painful urination
  • Pelvic pain
  • Unusual vaginal bleeding, for example after intercourse or after menopause.
  • Watery vaginal discharge

What is Risk Factor of Vaginal Tumor?

Risk factor is the anything that affects chance of getting a disease such as tumor. Different tumor has different risk factor. Scientist has found that certain risk factors make women more likely to develop vaginal tumor. There are several factor of vaginal tumor include:

    • Age

Only 15% of cases are found in women younger than 40. Other than that, most of cases are occur in women who are 70 years old or older.

    • Smoking

For those women who are smoking are doubled the risk of getting vaginal tumor.

    • Alcohol

Women who take drinking alcohol too much will increase the risk of vaginal tumor. Alcoholic women found more cases of vaginal tumor than was expected.

    • Human Papilloma Virus(HPV)

Human Papilloma Virus is known as virus because some of them cause a type of growth. Papilloma is more commonly known as warts. Certain HPV types can infect the outer female and male genital organs and the anal area, causing raised, bumpy warts.

    • Human Immunodeficiency virus

The people who have infection with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), the virus that causes AIDS, also increase the risk of vaginal tumor.

How to prevent from vaginal tumor?

This is important to people to avoid the vaginal tumor so that the risk factor can be reduced. Since many women with vaginal tumor have no known risk factors, It is not possibility to completely prevent this disease.

    • HPV and men

The two main factors influencing the risk of genital HPV infection in men are circumcision and the number of sexual partners. Other than that, men who are circumcised which have had the foreskin of the penis removed have a lower chance of becoming and staying infected with HPV.

    • Condoms and HPV

The safety way sexual intercourse is using condoms (rubber) provide some protection against HPV. Condoms are used correctly every time sex occurs, they can lower the HPV infection rate.

    • Get Vaccinated

The one way to prevent from HPV infection is using a vaccine called Gardasil. This vaccine was found to prevent anal and genital warts caused by HPV.

    • Don’t smoke

Those women who are not smoke are having a low risk of getting vaginal tumor.
